The 5 best Christmas albums

“All I Want for Christmas” has already started climbing the charts, and Christmas is just around the corner.

Therefore, we, at Good Gospel Music, have put together a list of our favorite Christmas album for your convenience. Make sure you get your copies, so you are ready to sing Christmas in.

Mariah Carey – Merry Christmas

Mariah Carey’s “Merry Christmas” album from 1994 is without a doubt one of the most iconic Christmas records ever.

The album contains the mega hit “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” which still tops the charts every winter, and which is Mariah Carey’s most successful song ever.

As of 2017, the track was reported to have earned $60 million in royalties, and in 2019, “All I Want For Christmas Is You” topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart for the first time, proving that the song indeed is an evergreen.

Last year, Mariah Carey released a new two-disc edition of the album featuring live songs, remixes and even new Christmas songs.

John Legend – A Legendary Christmas

John Legend released his Christmas album, “A Legendary Christmas,” in 2018 with 14 songs, some of them featuring other mega stars like Stevie Wonder and Esperanza Spalding.

The album topped Billboard’s Top Holiday Albums and was nominated for a Grammy Award in the category Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album.

The most famous song off of the album is John Legend’s interpretation of Hugh Martin and Ralph Blane’s “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” from 1943.

Michael Bublé – Christmas

Like Mariah Carey, Michael Bublé has also had more success with his Christmas venture than with any other. His album titled “Christmas” was released in 2011 and is his most successful record to date, selling more than 12 million copies.

“Christmas” became the first holiday album ever to win a Juno Award for Album of the Year.

The first single off of “Christmas” was an interpretation of Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You.”

In 2012, Michael Bublé re-released the album with four new tracks.

Celine Dion – These Are Special Times

Celine Dion’s 1998 Christmas album, “These Are Special Times,” features both new material and cover versions of popular Christmas tunes.

The album was a huge success, selling more than 14 million copies globally and achieving five platinum certifications in the United States.

“These Are Special Times” is one of the best-selling Christmas albums of all time.

The first single from the album was “I’m Your Angel,” which topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart for six consecutive weeks.

Josh Groban – Nöel

Another of the best-selling Christmas albums of all time is Josh Groban’s “Nöel” from 2007. As of 2015, the record had sold 5.8 million copies in the United States alone.

“Nöel” peaked at number one in Canada, Poland and the United States and has sold six times platinum in the latter country.

Josh Groban’s Christmas redord was nominated for Christmas Album of the Year at the 2008 GMA Dove Awards and for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album at the 2009 Grammy Awards.

The album was re-released in 2017 with several new songs.
