The Christian band We Are Messengers recently dropped a new version of their hit song “Wholehearted” featuring hip-hop act KB.
The updated version of the single was officially launched on Christian radio. It became the second-most-added song to the Mediabase AC Monitored chart as soon as it was released.
The collaborative iteration of “Wholehearted” updates the title track of their third album. The award-winning hip-hop artist KB has written and recorded an all-new verse for the song.
It boasts of a God who extends grace and forgiveness freely and loves unconditionally.
“Wholehearted” follows We Are Messengers’ number-one singles “God You Are” and “Come What May.”
We Are Messengers’ rise to fame
We Are Messengers originated in Monaghan, Ireland but has been based in the United States since 2015.
The famous labels Word Records and Curb Records helped release We Are Messengers’ first studio album in 2016.
On the Billboard album charts, the album reached the top 10, while it reached the top 15 on the Billboard Heatseekers charts. As a follow-up EP, “Honest,” was released in 2019 and entered the top 10 on the Billboard Christian Albums chart.
There are currently four members of We Are Messengers: Darren Mulligan (frontman), Kyle Williams (guitarist and vocalist), Drew Kerxton (drummer) and Raul Aguilar (bassist).
There have been five Billboard Christian Airplay top tens for the band, including “Maybe It’s Ok” and “Magnify.”
Frontman with personal side project
After the RIAA Gold certification of “Maybe It’s Ok” from their sophomore album, “Power,” the reimagined track follows. Also, Irish frontman Darren Mulligan worked with a small group of collaborators to develop the highly personal “Hills of Tyrone,” released last month.
“Hills of Tyrone” is very close to the heart of the lead singer. The project is intimate and sparsely produced, a collection of seven original songs honoring family, legacy and a place he will always call home.
Darren Mulligan describes his roots in his lyrics in a musical tapestry that transports all listeners to the Emerald Isle as he sings about his wife, wisdom for his children and stories about his lineage.
