Maverick City Music Releases a New Genre-Fusion Album 

Today, Maverick City Music released their latest genre-fusion album, ‘The Maverick Way Reimagined,’ via Insignia and TRIBL Records. Specifically, this album reimagines songs from the original ‘The Maverick Way Complete’ with a unique blend of genres.

Moreover, it includes nine new tracks, featuring collaborations that merge Afrobeats, R&B, Gospel, and Christian Contemporary genres.

Notably, “Rest on Us,” featuring Salvadoran artist Sam Rivera, is the first song released from ‘The Maverick Way Reimagined.’ Furthermore, other singles include “In The Room (Afro Beat Version)” featuring Annatoria, winner of ‘The Voice UK’ Season 9. Additionally, “God Problems (Not By Power)” features Miles Minnick, and “You Are Mighty” features Nick Day and Odell Bunton Jr.

These singles were teased on Maverick City Music’s Instagram page and are now available for download. Furthermore, listeners can hear Mara Justine, a top 5 finalist on ‘The Voice,’ on the new tracks. Evan Ford and Genavieve Linkowski, an ‘American Idol’ Top 40 contestant, also contribute to the album.

Listening to worship songs in a brand-new way

Jonathan Jay and Norman Gyamfi, co-founders of Maverick City Music and TRIBL Records, shared their vision for the album.

“The purpose of ‘The Maverick Way Reimagined’ is to embrace all music genres that our diverse listeners gravitate towards,” they said. “We wanted to give our fans of worship the chance to listen to the songs in a brand-new way. Meanwhile, they can still enjoy the original records that made the last album so popular. There will be many more projects in the works with a few of the featured artists.”

Maverick City Music, founded in 2018 in Atlanta, Georgia, aims to break down racial and denominational barriers in Christian music. In 2021, they received a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album for ‘Old Church Basement.’

In 2023, the group received four Grammy Awards. They won Best Gospel Performance/Song for “Kingdom” featuring Naomi Raine and Chandler Moore. They also won Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance for “Fear is Not My Future” featuring Brandon Lake and Chandler Moore.

Furthermore, they won Best Contemporary Christian Music Album for ‘Breathe’ and Best Gospel Album for ‘Kingdom Book One (Deluxe).’

In addition to their five Grammy Awards, Maverick City Music has won four GMA Dove Awards. They have also won one Billboard Music Award and one Soul Train Award. The group’s success is a testament to their mission of creating inclusive and diverse worship music.
