Groundbreaking Gospel Starlets 

Meet the Women Taking The Nigerian Gospel Industry by Storm.

The soulful and inspiring melodies of Nigerian Gospel are an inseparable part of the nation’s culture. The industry has been blossoming in recent years, producing a countless number of sensational stars and amazing fresh voices. These are some of the women shaking up the industry.

1. Sinach

This singer, songwriter Osinachi Joseph started out as senior worship leader at Believer’s Loveworld International. It was there that she got noticed for her amazing vocal talents. As a result of that, the artist quickly shot to stardom and has gained popularity far beyond the bounds of Nigeria, and has gained millions of fans in South Africa, Uganda, Kenya, Barbados, the US and the UK.

Having over 300 songs to her name and countless hits such as ‘Way Maker’, ‘I Know Who I Am’, among others, Sinach owes her success to her deep faith and love in Jesus.

2. Ada

Ada’s unique style of Afro-pop, hip hop an alternative rock have become massive hits. Born Ada Ehi, the starlet had quite an unexpected start. Originally a chemical and polymer engineering student at the Lagos State, she found herself connecting to the Pastor Chris Believers’ Loveworld Campus Ministry and its members. It was there that she felt herself connecting to her true passion, music.

Ada has released several inspiring singles about her unbreakable bond with Jesus. Some of her hits include ‘Bobo Me’, ‘Cheta’, ‘Jesus the Same’, ‘Raboni’ and ‘Glory’. She recently released a video called “Only You“.

3. Onos

This national treasure entered the gospel scene as a choir singer at the tender age of eight! Today, Onos is regarded as Nigeria’s best Gospel artists and is the lead vocalist of the House on the Rock Church in Lagos. In addition to that,  the star has shared a stage with world famous musicians such as Fred Hammond, Israel Houghton, Chevelle Franklyn, and Don Moen. Some of her hits include ‘Alagbara’, ‘Have Your Way’ and ‘Everything’ and of course countless more. ‘

4. Pat Uwaj King

AKA Mama Africa. This brilliant singer songwriter was born in Ibadan, Oyo, and comes from a family of seven children. Before getting into Gospel, Pat was a student in Creative Arts at the University of university of Lagos. After a successful run with the gospel group Midnight Crew, Pat embarked on a successful solo career and has made some great hits such like ‘Eze’, ‘He’s done me well’ and ‘all power’

5. Ayo Vincent

Ayo joined the gospel choir at the young age of 7 years. In 1998 she joined Christ Embassy Church, there she established herself as as a key worship leader of the choir. The charming and talented singer has been fortunate to share a stage with some huge artists like Hope Davies, Lagbaja, Sinach, Samsong and Femi Jacobs. The artist has also collaborated with mega producers Cobhams Asuquo and singer songwriter Don Jazzy. Vincent has moved the nation with songs like ‘I am Yours’, ‘Serve the Lord’, and ‘You are great’
