It is never too early to prepare for Christmas. Michael W. Smith agrees and is about to drop his new holiday EP titled “Christmas At Home”. The new record of the CCM superstar will appear on store shelves on November 4th.
Smith also hinted in his posts on Instagram and Facebook that fans can expect something special tomorrow, October 21st. It could be the mini album’s radio single titled “Christmas is Here”.
The EP is probably the most intimate record in Smith’s career, as his entire family participated in the recording process. For example, “Christmas is Here” is the result of the collaborative work of Michael W. Smith and his daughter, Anna. Another track, “The Star”, features a magic vocal of the elder daughter, Whitney Mooring.
“Christmas at Home” includes six brand new tracks: four songs and two instrumental melodies. Each of them sets a Christmas mood and makes everyone feel nostalgic about the holiday even more! Here is a full tracklist:
- The Night Before…
- Christmas Is Here
- Freeze The Frame
- The Star
- God with God
- Christmas at Wildwood
- Christmas Is Here (Radio Edit)
Though there are two more weeks before the release, a pre-order is already available on Michael W. Smith’s website. The EP will be on sale until December 31st.
Songs worthy of attention
The artist’s official website shares three key tracks which are worthy of listening to. The first one is “Christmas is Here” mentioned above. Besides the father-daughter collaboration, the song also includes a powerful chorus sung by Michael W’s grandchildren.
Another key song is “Freeze the Frame”. According to the website, this one was a source of inspiration for the whole project. Michael W. wrote this song with Tony Wood, a multiple Dove awardee. There is a good chance that the song will stay in the playlist of favorites for a long time.
The third outstanding song is “God with God” also written by Michael W. with Tony Wood. It is a new holiday hymn chilling for everyone who listens to it. “God with God” is a choral and orchestra masterpiece recorded with the 200+ member Brentwood Baptist Choir, conducted by worship leader Travis Cottrell. Michael W. worked on this song with his long-time friend, and conductor, David Hamilton, who also helped the musician with the previous Christmas records.
Michael W. Smith’s Christmas Tour
The musician will perform the new songs on the upcoming holiday tour. The concerts will kick off in late November and last until December 22nd. During the tour, Michael W. Smith will visit seventeen cities in fourteen states.
The first part of the tour lasting until December 9th will include performances with Amy Grant, a notable CCM singer-songwriter who is a six-time Grammy and 22-time Dove awardee. From December 12th until the end of the tour, Michael W. will perform solo.
The ticket information is available on the artist’s website, but it is better to hurry up — the second gig taking place in Greenville, SC, is already sold out.
