Chris Blue, winner of NBC’s “The Voice” Season 12, has hit a major milestone in his burgeoning music career. His debut album, Foundations: The Hymns of My Heart, released by Gaither Music Group, has soared to the top of the Gospel Album Chart. Additionally, the album secured the #2 spot on the Top Christian/Gospel Albums Chart. Furthermore, it ranked #158 on the Top Album Sales Chart across all music genres, according to Luminate.
Chris Blue expressed his excitement and gratitude for this achievement, stating, “This is where my life, my story, my faith began. I really want people to know who I am, at my core, so why not start at the beginning?”
Moreover, his heartfelt comment underscores the deeply personal nature of the album, reflecting his journey and spiritual foundation. Ultimately, this success marks a significant step in Chris Blue’s post-The Voice career. Essentially, it establishes him as a prominent new voice in gospel music.
An Exciting Week of Celebrations
Adding to the excitement, Blue made a special appearance on NBC this past Saturday, June 22. He performed the national anthem for the U.S. Diving Qualifying Olympics in Knoxville, Tennessee. This event, part of the lead-up to the 2024 Summer Olympics, was a meaningful moment for Blue in his hometown.
The album Foundations: The Hymns of My Heart features ten soulful interpretations of songs that have deeply impacted Blue’s life. In addition, a 13-track concert DVD, featuring an interview with Blue hosted by Gospel Music Hall of Fame member Bill Gaither, accompanies the album.
“This album is deeply personal to me,” Blue said. “It reflects where my journey began and how my faith has shaped me.”
On June 23, Blue premiered his album on the Gaither Music TV YouTube channel. The same day, his TV special aired on aspireTV, featuring performances and interviews. Moreover, this special will continue to air on various networks throughout the summer and fall. These networks include RFD-TV, TBN, Heartland, CTN, TCT, The Walk TV, Vision Television & Hope TV (Canada), and The Miracle Channel (Canada). The Foundations: The Hymns of My Heart DVD is available at Amazon, Christianbook.com, Parable.com, and other retailers.
A Full-Circle Moment
Reflecting on his early days, Blue shared, “In our house, growing up, Mr. Gaither was the Billy Graham, the godfather of gospel. It didn’t get any bigger than that.” Consequently, this release on Gaither Music is a full-circle moment for Blue, who started singing in church and with his family band in Knoxville at three. Additionally, he was ordained by twelve and later became a worship leader. Moreover, his career skyrocketed after winning “The Voice” in 2017, where his expressive vibrato and dynamic stage presence captivated audiences.
Bill Gaither praised Blue’s talent, saying, “Every now and then a unique talent comes along that has that certain something and Chris has it! He brings a special spirit to our nightly concerts, and it has been a joy to watch how God uses his gifts.”
Ultimately, Blue’s journey and his debut album are a testament to his faith and passion for gospel music. His soulful interpretations and heartfelt performances have struck a chord with many, making Foundations: The Hymns of My Heart a celebrated success in the gospel music community.
