The Christian hit tv series “The Chosen” has already taken the world by storm and soon, it will be able to reach even more people.
A new partnership between “The Chosen” and the nonprofit organization Come and See Foundation paves the way for the translation of the series into 100 languages. Additionally, the show will be subtitled into 500 other languages.
“This new partnership with Come and See supercharges our efforts. We are able to produce episodes bigger and faster, get them translated into more languages and market the show on a scale previously impossible,” director of “The Chosen,” Dallas Jenkins, said.
Experiencing Jesus in your native language
“The Chosen” consists of three seasons so far. While the first season has been dubbed into 12 languages and subtitled into 62 languages, the second season has been dubbed into seven languages and subtitled into 20 languages.
“’The Chosen’ is such a dynamic and powerful story. With the formation of the Come and See Foundation, our plan is to take ‘The Chosen’ around the world, reaching much of the world’s population, so they are able to experience Jesus in their native tongue,” Stan Jantz, CEO of the Come and See Foundation, stated.
“The Chosen” reaches #3 in the US
The first season of “The Chosen” premiered in 2019, and the third season has just been released in American cinemas.
The premiere of season three consisted of two episodes. It grossed an estimated $8.2 million in its opening weekend and was the third most-watched “movie” in the United States.
Only “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” and “The Menu” outdid “The Chosen.”
Subsequently, media outlets hailed the triumph of the series and called it a “surprise success.”
“It is going to help expand the reach of the show. It is going to get more attention for the show. We are shocking the industry,” Dallas Jenkins said in response to the opening weekend.
“The theaters, distributors… Are going to be far more interested in the future, which is really cool for the expansion of the show,” he added.
“The Chosen” added to Netflix
The first two seasons of “The Chosen” are available for free in the tv series’ app and on the streaming platforms Prime Video and Peacock.
In November, the first season of “The Chosen” was also added to Netflix.
The series is based on the life of Jesus and His followers. It is the first multi-season show about Jesus, following Him from birth to death.
Dallas Jenkins recently talked to Faithwire about the show’s success.
“It is not shocking to me. From day one, I have been kind of like, ‘Okay, God can do anything, and my job is just to make a show that honors the spirit of Jesus in the gospels,” he said and added:
“My primary measure of success is am I honoring Jesus and the gospels, can I sleep at night knowing that I believe God is pleased with what I have provided. I know that sounds like a cliché, but it is true. I genuinely believe that God is pleased with what we are doing, with what we have delivered. And as long as we keep doing that, that is success.”
